Biography

Dr. Manuel Bensi is marine scientist with more than 14 years’ experience in the physical oceanography field. He graduated in 2003 from the University of Genoa, in 2006 obtained a M.Sc degree in Tropical Marine Science from the University of Fortaleza, Brazil, and in 2012 the PhD degree in Marine Science from the University of Trieste, Italy. His research focuses on thermohaline circulation, dense water formation and cascading processes in areas of the Mediterranean Sea and Polar regions. Author of more than 30 publications among peer-reviewed journals (e.g., Scientific Report, Nature Communication, JGR-Oceans, PLoS ONE, Deep Sea Res., Ocean Science, etc.), book’s chapters, technical reports, and more than 40 communications in national and international conferences. He took part to more than 25 oceanographic cruises in the Mediterranean Sea, in the Atlantic and in the Arctic Oceans. He holds a large expertise in ocean data acquisition and processing (thermohaline data, ocean-velocity data, time-series, etc.) and instruments set-up. He is coordinator and task leader in several national and international projects.
