Marco Moreno

Marco Moreno is a PhD researcher in the Electronic and Computer Engineering department at the University of Limerick, Ireland, and a member of the Centre for Robotics and Intelligent Systems (CRIS). His research focuses on the use of UAVs, remote sensing, and advanced imaging technologies for environmental monitoring. His current work explores multispectral and hyperspectral imaging, LiDAR, and machine learning for the classification and mapping of coastal and marine environments. His workflow spans the full data pipeline, from UAV mission planning and radiometric pre-processing through photogrammetric reconstruction and image analysis, using tools such as Agisoft Metashape and ENVI to produce reliable habitat classification products. Marco has presented his research at international conferences and is particularly interested in developing practical, reproducible UAV sensing approaches that bridge advanced remote sensing techniques with real-world environmental monitoring applications.
