Lutz Lampe

Lutz Lampe received the Dipl.-Ing. and Dr.-Ing. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Erlangen, Erlangen, Germany, in 1998 and 2002, respectively. Since 2003, he has been with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, The University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC, Canada, where he is a Full Professor. He is a Co-Editor of the book Power Line Communications: Principles, Standards and Applications from Multimedia to Smart Grid (second edition, John Wiley & Sons). His research explores the design and analysis of communication and sensing systems across wireless, optical fiber, power line, and underwater acoustic channels, drawing on communication and information theory, detection and estimation, signal processing, and machine learning to develop methods that address key challenges in these diverse environments. He has been a (co-) recipient of several best paper awards. He was the general and technical program committee co-chair of IEEE conferences. He has served as an associate editor and a guest editor for several IEEE journals. He has been a Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Communications Society.
