Xenia I. Loizidou

Dr Xenia I. Loizidou is a civil/ coastal engineer. For 35 years, she has worked in over 50 countries as a European and international expert in the fields of coastal and marine environment and dynamics, marine litter, climate change, gender issues, blue and green growth/economy, natural systems management, participatory decision-making processes, sustainable development strategies, policies and practices. She holds several offices and has received numerous international awards for her innovative scientific work and for her activities as a volunteer and an activist. In 2019, she was awarded the title of Ambassador of the Coasts by UNEP/MAP. She is the author/co-author of over 200 Technical Reports, books and papers in Scientific Journals and International Conferences. She believes in the importance of introducing innovation into research and development processes and the implementation of non-conventional forms of action as the way towards sustainability. She is the mother of two daughters.
