Demetra Orthodoxou

Demetra Orthodoxou is a Biochemist and Environmental Engineer. Her work focuses on marine and terrestrial plastic pollution, waste management, and the open-environment biodegradation of novel materials, with a strong emphasis on applied research and real-world environmental challenges. She leads AKTI’s involvement in research and innovation projects, coordinating scientific activities, stakeholder engagement, and participatory decision-making processes. Her expertise also includes policy analysis and the development of evidence-based policy recommendations, bridging scientific research with environmental governance and sustainable policy development.
